Felix Jones = Fatty?

Felix Jones coming to the Eagles seems like a no-brainer for both sides. The Eagles wanted another talented RB to add to the mix. Jones wasn’t getting much in the way of free agent interest so now he comes to a team that can use his skill set and will likely play 3 RBs.

Matt Moseley writes for FOX Sports Southwest and offers a different take. I don’t think he’s very high on Jones. Here is the opening paragraph.

“The Dunkin’ Donuts stores in Greater Philadelphia received some wonderful news Tuesday when the Philadelphia Eagles signed former Cowboys running back Felix Jones to a one-year contract. The former Cowboys second-round pick showed up for training camp in July at least 10 pounds overweight, and promptly failed a conditioning test. “

Ouch.

The one point I would make to Moseley is that coming to Philly is perfect for Jones. Chip Kelly won’t allow Jones to be overweight. Kelly will have the nutrition guys all over Jones. They’ll be feeding him grass, soy, or cloud stew if that’s what it takes to get Jones into shape.

Jerry Jones country club ways are a thing of the past.

Jones was a first round pick

  2. Dominik says:

If Jones shows up overweight, Polk, Maysonet or Tucker will get the spot as 3rd RB. Don’t see a problem there, Jones won’t have much guaranteed money, if any.

The Cowboys didn’t have a real competition at the RB position, the Eagles have.

I’d heard that Jones issues coming into camp last year were related to him being fresh off an injury/surgery and not just laziness. Either way, if conditioning is an issue he won’t last long under Chip.

Is it just me or is 10 pounds overweight at the start of TC not that big of a deal? Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather have a guy at the right weight and in shape, but 10 pounds is something he probably loses in a matter of days. It isn’t like 10 lbs means he is making daily stops to DD. Seems to me that Mossley is making that our to be a much bigger deal than it really is.

He was bad when he did the nfc east and he’s worse now. Can’t even get the round right. He is such a Dallas Homer is absurd.

Maybe if Dude can get himself right under ‘Ol Chip it will solve some of his injury-proneness. The old saying goes: Fat=Fragile. I am legitimatly excited to see the outcome of the Felix Jones story line……hoping for a reinvention/revival
