Some Tryout Prospects

Chip Kelly is a New Hampshire grad and he coached there as well. He’s now offering a shot to a couple of players from his alma mater. A pair of UNH players will tryout for the Eagles in the upcoming mini-camp.

Dontra Peters played CB for UNH as a Senior, after spending his first 3 years on offense. He has good size at 6-0, 201. Peters had 4 INTs this year and has plenty of KOR experience.

ILB Matt Evans (6-0, 227) was a tackling machine for UNH. He finished his career with 460 tackles. Evans won the Buck Buchanan Award in 2011 as the nation’s top I-AA defensive player. He had 3 INTs, 3 FFs, 92 solo tackles, and 7.5 TFLs. He also ran 2 of the INTs back for TDs.

The players do not count against the 90-man roster limit. Both are major longshots.

Matt Evans has to be trying out as a safety right? Kendricks is an undersized ILB and he’s 239.

  2. Calderone says:

I went to a school in UNH’s conference so I know all about Evans.. He really is a machine, he seems to be in on every tackle. Surely he doesn’t have the size or speed to be on the field defensively in the NFL, but he could be a special teams DEMON for some team, don’t count him out.

I went to a school that was in the same conference as UNH so I’ve seen Evans play and he is a beast, seems to be in on every tackle. Surely he doesn’t have the size or speed to be on the field defensively in the NFL, but I could see him being a special teams DEMON for some team.
