Eagles Getting Pressure

Greg Bedard keeps track of pass rushers for MMQB. He had Trent Cole rated as the 2nd best edge rusher from last week.

Cole registered 5 “pressure points”. He was credited with 1 sack, 1 easy sack, 5 pressures and 1 hit. Only Justin Tuck had a better game.

Vinny Curry was credited as the Unsung Interior Rusher of the Week. Here’s what they said about him.

Curry has quietly been one of the most effective interior rushers for the season, and he stood out—despite not having a sack—against the Cardinals by finishing tied for third with 3.25 Pressure Points: one sack assist, one drawn hold, three hurries and one hit.

For the season, Curry has a total of 16.25 Pressure Points in just 160 pass rushes. If we threw out the minimum of 200 pass rushes, Curry’s rate of 10.2 would be second among interior rushers to J.J. Watt (41.2 Pressure Points in 397 rushes—10.4).

Wow, that’s impressive.

The Eagles as a team are up to 22nd in the league in the Pressure Points rating system. They were down below 25th in recent weeks so the team is on the rise.

The O-line is rated 28th in protecting the passer.

Curry got jobbed out of a sack on that hold too. Seems like he’s had a bunch of holds/intentional grounds take sacks away from him this year.
