The Chiefs cut RT Eric Winston. This move makes it very likely, if not certain, they’ll go OT with the top pick. My money is on them going with Eric Fisher from CMU instead of Luke Joeckel.
Prior to the arrival of OL coach Howard Mudd in 2011, Reid and Juan Castillo loved to draft big guys with long arms. They want players who anchor well and can run block. Reid rarely took natural pass protectors. Fisher has some RT experience in his past. He has slightly longer arms than Joeckel. And he anchors better. Fisher is the better run blocker of the two.
We’ll find out in 50 days, but Fisher is my guess.
If Luke Joeckel is on the board, you have to wonder if the Eagles are willing to pass him up.

First off, congratulations on the new site. I’m glad there will be a place where we get your quick thoughts immediately on all Eagles news so now I will have two places to refresh over and over again every day.
In terms of the Chiefs possibly drafting Fisher, at the very least, it gives us a great chance of having the option to draft Joeckel if we want to. In addition, Joeckel seems like he could be a guy that would create some trade interest if we wanted to trade out of the 4 spot. Of course, Jacksonville and Oakland could probably also get some teams to be interested, especially considering they can easily sell the idea that we would draft Joeckel if he gets to us.
Could Winston be of interest for the Eagles?!
Maybe Reid saw Jimmy’s post about Fisher’s arm length and became intrigued with the possibilities.
I still don’t get how Fisher has jumped ahead of Joeckel. Joeckel played at the top level of college football at the SEC, started for years and helped Johnny Football win the Heisman. The tape does not lie. Fisher was playing against teams like Ball State. I get that he is the right size and athletic but the level of competition is not even close here. Joeckel should go first. And if he’s there at #4, the Eagles would be crazy not to take him.
