Looks like helmet-to-helmet though. The hits on Mike Wallace and Hakeem Nicks were lethal and legal though

I actually don’t think it was. It definitely looks like it because of the way Henne’s head rips backward, but if you watch carefully, right when Chung first hits him his head actually snaps *forward* from the impact, indicating that his helmet/facemask hadn’t been contacted. It then immediately snaps backward because as a result of it snapping forward it *does* smash into Chung’s helmet which sends it flying back. But if we can imagine that Henne had neck muscles of steel and he could keep his head completely stationary in relation to his body, I don’t think Chung’s helmet ever would have contacted his.

Really interesting point. Would that technically fall into helmet-to-helmet even though Chung didn’t lead directly into the facemask? I’ve been trying to figure out the nuances of that rule, and its been hard to tell because of the inconsistency with which penalties are called for it.

Theyd probably call it helment to helmet on the field because of how his head went back but either way we need this kind of physicality in our secondary.
