Bill Sheridan is the DC for Tampa Bay. He previously was the DC for the Giants. In this video, Greg Cosell explains how the Eagles burned Sheridan with a long TD to DeSean Jackson in Tampa and NY.
Great stuff.

Next up, a trip to the Hall of Fame.
But I’ll settle for winning a home game.
PE.com put together an excellent gallery of photos from the Eagles-Cowboys games over the years.

Tony Romo and the Cowboys had a long, long day in the 2008 season finale. Dawk made Romo’s life miserable.

A reader over on Iggles Blitz posted a good link. It is an interesting look at “impact tackles”, missed tackles and total tackles.

I hate reporting news like this. Irving Fryar, one of my favorite Eagles, was indicted on charges of defrauding a bank. Actually, banks. He and his mother were involved in a conspiracy to rip off banks in a mortgage scam.
In announcing the indictment, prosecutors said Fryar and his mother, Allene McGhee, engaged in a ”sophisticated mortgage fraud scam” by allegedly having McGhee submit false information to obtain five loans on her home within a six-day period. The two were indicted on counts of conspiracy and theft by deception.
This is so depressing to find out.
Authorities said Fryar and McGhee provided wage information on her loan applications, falsely claiming she earned thousands of dollars a month as an event coordinator for Fryar’s church. Fryar himself allegedly received or spent more than $200,000 of the fraudulently obtained loan proceeds, they said.
Fryar and McGhee also allegedly made just a few payments on four of the loans, and those banks eventually wrote the loans off as losses, authorities said.
”This is not a case in which Fryar and his mother simply omitted or misstated information on loan applications,” Hoffman said. ”This indictment alleges that they engaged in an elaborate criminal scheme that was designed to defraud these banks of hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Ugh.
This is a must-read story from Ray Didinger…in 1981. The story of the Cowboys having to wear their blue jerseys.
Didinger was truly a great writer. Really loved reading this piece.
Ryan Wilson wrote a good piece for CBS Sports on some coaches that are struggling right now. He started off by talking about the Skins.
As RG3 progressed through his rookie season, it was easy to overlook another looming issue: Coach Mike Shanahan was firmly on the hot seat heading into the 2012 season. He was hired in 2010 and Washington won six games with Donovan McNabb and Rex Grossman (don’t forget, it was Shanahan’s son, Kyle, the ‘Skins’ offensive coordinator, who wanted Grossman in Washington). The team managed just fives wins in 2011 with Grossman and John Beck.
Then RG3 happened, everyone conveniently forgot about Shanahan’s struggles, and all was right in the world … right up till the moment Griffin blew out his knee.
Put another way: If you take out the Redskins’ seven-game winning streak to end the 2012 season (which, incidentally, took place after Shanahan gave up on the season following a 3-6 start), his record in Washington is 15-31. Even Matt Millen thinks that’s embarrassing.
The takeaway: This isn’t about Griffin, per se. He’s a young quarterback, recovering from a serious injury, and still growing as a player.
This is about the consequences of betting the farm that he’ll magically mask all the team’s other problems. And from the perspective of Week 6, the Redskins look like they’re a lot closer to rebuilding than reloading — except that they’re already out of ammunition.
Ouch.
And Wilson is so right. Shanny did a lot of dumb things for a couple of years, but RG3 washed them all away…temporarily. Now everyone is seeing the flaws. You wonder if a terrible season will put Shanny back on the hot seat. The Skins are 1-4, with a struggling offense and continually bad defense. Tough times in Washington.
Wilson also talks about the Houston Texans and Bucs DC Bill Sheridan. Good stuff all around.
The Eagles lost WR Greg Salas when the Jets signed him off the practice squad. Good for Greg. He had a strong showing this summer and it is good to see him get a chance to play.
The Eagles added TE Emil Igwenagu to the practice squad to replace Salas. Iggy was recently cut when the team signed WR B.J. Cunningham.
In his Monday PC, Chip Kelly said Fletcher Cox played his best game of the year. Kelly said the coaches had Cox down for 5 QB pressures vs the Bucs.
Pro Football Focus agreed.
We agree with Chip Kelly re: Fletcher Cox playing his best game for the team. Highest grade (+5.1) we've ever given him. Excellent game.

I was also highly impressed. Cox didn’t post great stats, but he was very disruptive. Looked like he got held a lot. Several were called, but some weren’t.
Reuben Frank started regular columns called “Roob’s 25 Random Points“. I love the columns. Check out these blurbs.
4. Speaking of Foles, out of 43 quarterbacks who’ve thrown at least 100 passes since opening day of last year, only four have thrown fewer interceptions per pass attempt than Foles. Here’s the top five: Tom Brady (one every 75.7 attempts), Peyton Manning (one every 65.1 attempts), Aaron Rodgers (64.0), Robert Griffin III (62.6), Kevin Kolb (61.0), Nick Foles (59.0). And before you dismiss the list because Kolb is on it, Kolb’s issues weren’t accuracy, they were durability. He just couldn’t stay healthy. Foles so far seems to have that toughness you really like in a QB. The harder he gets hit, the faster he pops up. I like that.
To be fair, Foles has had several INTs dropped. Still, that is a very encouraging stat.
5. OK, don’t laugh. Here’s a list of most Eagles interceptions over the last three years: Kurt Coleman (six), Nnamdi Asomugha (four), Jamar Chaney (three), Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (three), Asante Samuel (three). Look for Brandon Boykin to sit atop that list soon, but for now … it’s just sad.
Sad? Seems like a major understatement. I’d go with…very sad.
You also get Roob’s thoughts on the Jonas Brothers and a mention of Luke and Laura’s wedding. Younger readers won’t have an idea about the latter item, but I remember it well.
