Cool video here of Chad Lewis.
My favorite part…he was a TE at BYU and wore #97. That’s just cool.
Also love DEs that wear #86 or #5.

The Eagles let go of Dion Lewis this offseason and some people were surprised. Not me. Dion Lewis has some maturity issues. He has shown flashes of good talent, but you can’t be a 3rd stringer and a knucklehead.
Lewis let his bad side show today on Twitter when he opened up on the Aaron Hernandez situation. Lewis said “Hernandez homie snitched on him lol”. Needless to say, there was some negative feedback and Lewis chose to delete the tweet.
This CBS Sports story has the tweet and another interaction with a fan.
Lewis has NFL talent, but must realize that what he says and does affects his NFL future. He’s no longer the star at Pitt who can do whatever and it won’t affect him. Lewis isn’t a bad guy, but the knucklehead stuff needs to stop.
You can keep your NFC title game memories. This is my version of Eagles ecstasy.
God, I loved #92. Such a magical player.
Bryan Broaddus, who ran the draft for the Eagles in 1998, is now a writer for the Dallas Cowboys. He is a really interesting guy to follow on Twitter, as he shares a scout’s perspective on pro football.
In a recent column for Cowboys.com, Broaddus discussed winning games in December. He offered this nugget about the Eagles and playing on the road late in the year.
The team that has been money on the road during this time has been the Philadelphia Eagles who have a record of 7-5. As for the Cowboys in the month of December, their record is 6-7 on the road and 5-5 at home, which is a reflection of what we have seen from this team the last several years. As important as all these games are in a season, what the month of December will once again tell the true story, for their sake, I hope it’s a different ending.
I can’t blame Broaddus for cheering for Dallas since they pay his bills. Don’t let that ruin his credibility with you. Smart guy.
Matt Barkley got married this past weekend.
Barkley married longtime girlfriend Brittany Langdon, a fellow athlete who played soccer for four years at Seattle Pacific and before that at Northwood High in Irvine.
Click on the link and you can see a picture of the beautiful Ms. Langdon.
Congrats to her and Matt.
RG3 also got married. No word on if he hurt his knee while walking down the aisle or carrying his lovely bride over the threshold.
Bryce Brown was a revelation in 2012. He flashed big time ability and did some things that are very rare (160 rushing yards in consecutive games).
Brown had a strange path to the NFL. You can get all the details in this story from Rivals.com.
It is kinda crazy to think how things might have turned out if he did go to Miami or had stayed at Tennessee. Brown could have been a huge star. He did enough to get to the NFL and his future is very bright.
Nic Purcell has the most fascinating background story of any Eagle rookie. Heck, maybe any Eagles player. He’s the guy from New Zealand who played community college football and then the NCAA denied his bid to go to Oregon.
There is a new article out on Purcell from his homeland. The interesting nugget here involves hazing.
“I was expecting a little more ‘hazing’ (being hassled by the older players, more or less) but that doesn’t really go on at the Eagles, so you just avoid the unnecessary stress,” he says.
“The majority of senior players are really helpful just trying to help you transition … it’s a really good environment here.”
I think light hazing is okay, but too often players took it too far. I’m glad Kelly has no hazing or minimal hazing. The Eagles might be looking for some rookies to contribute quite a lot. You want them to fit in, not feel like outsiders.
Walter Payton owned the Green Bay Packers, running for almost 2,500 yards against them in his career. That’s tops in NFL history for a RB vs a single team. Sadly, right after that is Emmitt Smith vs the Eagles. Emmitt ran for 2,466 yards in 26 career games against the Eagles. Ugh. And to think, we owned him at the beginning of his career.

What about pass catchers? Jerry Rice can thank the Falcons for helping put him in the Hall of Fame. Jerry posted insane numbers against the Dirty Birds.
The Eagles receiving nemesis caught me off guard. I wasn’t really sure who to guess, but I didn’t think it would be Jason Witten. He has 109 career catches in 19 games against the Eagles. That number is toward the bottom of the list. Rice has 175 catches vs the Falcons.

Cool study that was done by Chase over at Football Perspective. He does great work.
The Eagles defense is a bit of a mystery heading into 2013, but one thing we know is that there will be an emphasis on takeaways. Both Chip Kelly and Bill Davis have a good history with defenses that come up with turnovers. Here is a blurb from a good piece by Tim McManus:
That’s exactly what Kelly’s defense did for him at Oregon. The Ducks led the entire nation with 131 takeaways from 2009-2012. Forty of those came in ’12 alone.
Davis’ defenses have been known to create turnovers as well. With Davis serving as the defensive coordinator, the Cardinals came up with 21 interceptions in 2009, which was the highest mark for the franchise in since ’94. The following season, Arizona recorded 12 return touchdowns (7 fumble returns, 3 interception returns, 2 kickoff returns), the second-highest single-season total in NFL history. The seven fumble returns for scores established a new league record.
The Eagles had just 37 takeaways over the last 2 years combined. That must change.
Not done yet, but source tells me former #Eagles and #Rams safety Quintin Mikell talking with the #Panthers. Deal could be done soon.

The Panthers would make sense. HC Ron Rivera spent one year in Philly with Mikell. DC Sean McDermott was in Philly for all of Mikell’s Eagles career. They understand his limitations, but must value his experience and leadership enough to consider bringing him on board.
Good luck to Q. He’s one of those guys you always cheer for.
