Already Another James Casey Update

From Adam Caplan:

“James Casey deal with the Eagles could get done as early as late this evening. Stay tuned.”

ESPN is also reporting a deal is potentially close.

No to LaRon Landry

Mike Silver reports that the Eagles are not interested in LaRon Landry.

“The Eagles need at least one safety and one corner in free agency but, I’m told, have no interest in S LaRon Landry”

Silver did a major hatchet job on Howie Roseman a few years back, but they’ve become somewhat friendly since. Not sure if this is a leak from Howie or info from another source.

Another Opinion on RJF

Our beloved Jason La Canfora chimes in:

“Would be very surprised if Ricky Jean Francois left his visit with the Eagles without a new deal”

Sounds good to me.

RJF to Visit

Per Ian Rapoport:

“DL Ricky Jean-Francois is set to visit the #Eagles, likely tomorrow. If there is no deal, he’ll visit the #Colts.”

RJF would come in to be either the 5-tech DE or 3-tech DT. Not exactly sure. Played all over in SF.

Sopoaga To Visit

Per multiple sources, Niners NT Isaac Sopoaga will visit the Eagles. Will happen soon.  Sopoaga is a classic 3-4 NT.  Lists at 6-2, 330. Will turn 32 in September. He would be here as a short term player to help develop a young guy.

TE/FB/H-back James Casey to Visit Eagles

John McClain is a great writer for the Houston Chronicle and just put this item on Twitter:

“Fourteen teams, plus the Texans, have called about James Casey. Philly is his first visit.”

Casey would replace Stanley Havili since Chip Kelly doesn’t use a true Fullback. I am shocked so many teams are interested in Casey.

No To Revis?

Tim McManus, an excellent Eagles writer, says the team isn’t in on Revis:

League source says no merit to report that Eagles are in the mix for Revis.”

I trust him a heck of a lot more than I trust Jason La Canfora, who reported the Eagles were interested.

Caplan’s List

Adam Caplan posted his list of Eagles FA targets:

“The names I’ve mentioned over the past few wks..plus a few more for potential FA targets for the #Eagles:

H-Back/TE James Casey, TEs Jared Cook (at right price) and Anthony Fasano, DLs Vaughn Martin and Ricky Jean-Francois, OLB Connor Barwin (at right price), OT Jake Long (at right price), CBs Cary Williams (at right price) and Sean Smith (at right price), S LaRon Landry and Dashon Goldson.

I would expect them to pursue signing at least a few of them, but many teams will be after them, so it’s still a bit fluid. Stay tuned.”

Adam is very tuned into the Eagles.

Update From Les Bowen

Interesting.

“I am told Eagles won’t be signing Sean Smith or Dashon Goldson. Focus really will be what they said — youngish, midlevel. Maybe a Jake Long”

That’s probably the right approach to have, in terms of not throwing big bucks at DBs. No one is worth mega-money.

GONE !!!

Nnamdi Asomugha has officially been released by the Eagles.  GM Howie Roseman wished him well and said all the right things.  That’s fine.  Nnamdi is a good guy.  Just wasn’t a good CB for the last 2 years.
