PFT: Could Asomugha Be Traded?

This seems like a longshot, but Mike Florio has wondered if the Eagles could deal Nnamdi Asomugha.  As he points out, the Eagles got a 7th rounder for Asante Samuel last year.  While a late round pick might not sound like much, it is better than nothing.

And you never know who that pick might turn out to be.  The Eagles used the 7th rounder from the Samuel deal to draft RB Bryce Brown.  To Brian Baldinger, that’s as good as getting Bo Jackson.

Will the Eagles be Aggressive in FA?

Sheil Kapadia of Birds 24/7 just put up a post in which he says the Eagles will be aggressive in free agency.  Interesting take.

As always, Sheil presents a sound, smart argument.  He also has some quotes from Howie Roseman to back up his thoughts.

Dave Spadaro from PE.com has said the opposite, but you never know exactly where he is coming from.  Sometimes Dave has an agenda (but not in a bad way).  He might simply be trying to keep fans from getting their hopes up.  Years ago Joe Banner went on WIP and talked about an exciting offseason.  The Eagles then did very little and it royally pissed off a lot of fans.

I’ve gone back and forth on the wisdom of what to do.  The Eagles do need to add multiple starters in FA, but I hope they don’t go for high end talent.  Take chances on mid-level guys or ascending players.  Paying mega-bucks for Pro Bowl talent is very risky.  Right Nnamdi?

Vinny Curry Ready For the 3-4

Tim McManus has a good piece up on Vinny Curry preparing to play in a new scheme.  Curry thought he might be drafted by a 3-4 team last year so he did some prep work in learning how to drop back.  He even did some of that at Marshall.  Curry has been in the gym quite a bit and you can see the results.

You’ll also find out that Curry has connections to 2 of the new coaches.  That can’t hurt.

I previously speculated about Curry playing the SAM position in the 4-3 Under defense. I still think that is a possibility.

Eagles Sign G.J. Kinne

The Eagles made it official on Tuesday and signed QB G.J. Kinne. We knew this was going to happen.  The deal couldn’t go down until his arena team made his release official.  Don’t make too much of this signing.  All the beat writers have termed him a “camp arm” so that is something that someone inside the Eagles is feeding them.

Here’s the PE.com story.

Here is Kinne in action from 2011 when Tulsa took on UTEP.

And finally…here are his NCAA stats.  Very productive QB.
