The Patriots always seem to have a ton of injuries, and often to key players. This year’s team is missing Gronk, Sebastian Vollmer, Vince Wilfork, Jerrod Mayo, Brandon Spikes and Tommy Kelly. That’s a lot of firepower, on offense and defense.
A Pats writer is pushing the idea that Bill Belichick needs to call Chip Kelly and pick his brain. They learned from each other in the past. Kelly has done an amazing job with keeping the Eagles healthy this year. Why wouldn’t Bill try to find out what he’s doing?
Bill can ask, but Chip should politely decline to answer. They exchanged info when Chip was at Oregon. There was no conflict of interest. Lots of college and pro coaches help each other. No NFL coaches help each other. Their competitors.
Coaches may share a secret or two, but that is generally something the other guy can pick up off tape study. Kelly has been very protective of the sport science stuff. I hope he remains tight-lipped to other teams and doesn’t share any info. The Eagles seem to have a leg up in this area. Let’s hope they keep that.
