There was recent speculation about Jeremy Maclin being a trade target of the Colts. Owner Jim Irsay talked about the team trying to land a “whopper” and then let it be known the deal was for a WR.
Les Bowen reported on Twitter that he checked with some people and couldn’t find anything to substantiate the story.
Now Jason La Canfora is jumping in to say that after doing some digging of his own, the best possibilities for who Irsay was talking about…Maclin or DeSean Jackson.
Now you have to read this carefully. La Canfora didn’t get anyone to say the Eagles were looking to move a WR. He simply eliminated most of the other possibilities and then came to the conclusion that the most likely answer was Mac or DJax. He was actually told it wasn’t Jackson, but said he wasn’t going to close the door on that scenario.
Even if the Colts are targeting Maclin and even if they have talked to Howie about a deal, that doesn’t mean this is going to happen. And I do think it is key that this situation feels more like one where the Colts are looking for a WR rather than the Eagles shopping one. Indy GM Ryan Grigson was in Philly when Maclin was drafted so it would make sense to have interest. As a sidenote, I’ve always thought Colts WR Reggie Wayne is someone that Maclin compared favorably to.
We’ll see if this story has legs or is just more speculation about speculation.

If the colts want to give up thier 2nd round pick id do it in a heartbeat. I like Maclin but he has no toughness, goes down easily, and im kinda tired of his alligator arms. There will be lots of quality WRs to pick from with the first pick in the 2nd round.
